Talent! Chili! Bluegrass!

There’s so much to do and see on Saturday, October 16 in the Glendora Village, what with Glendora’s Got Talent, the International Chili Society’s Cook-Off and a Bluegrass Music Festival on the bill.

If you enjoyed NBC’s Americas Got Talent this summer, you won’t want to miss our own hometown talent show that kicks off the day at 9 am on the stage in the transit plaza. Contestant of all ages and skills have signed up, and it will be up to the judges to see who takes home a golden electric guitar, courtesy of String’s Music.

This is the first time Glendora has hosted an International Chili Society sanctioned Cook-off, and the Village’s event will also be a first for the ICS. Typical contest are for “Professional” ICS members – those folks who compete for cash prizes and for points on the way to the ICS National Cook-Off. They will be comepting for the Best Salsa Chili.

For the first time, ICS judges will select the first “Backyard Chef” and the winners will receive gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Glendora’s “Backyard Chef” Champion will compete in the 2011 in this new category against othee backyard chefs champions.

Downtown Glendora restaurants will also be vying for the title of Glendora’s Best Chili.

Members of the public can join the judging action by buying empty bowls that they’ll take to each competitors spot to sample there entrys, and then vote for the winner.

The Bluegrass Festival will be the perfect backdrop for the Chili Cook-Off, with several bands taking over the Transit Plaza stage and other stages throughout Downtown for the afternoon and evening.

    I recieved my bluegrass festival brochure in the mail at 1:00 the day of the event! Please send them out earlier, I would have loved to come.
